She glides over the water
Gentle ripples caressing her lovingly,
Illuminating the night sky
With her radiant beauty.
Silence...
Silence embraces all
As she slowly begins her dance.
She sways
Just as the weeping willow
When the soft breeze
Playfuly glides through her bows.
Alone...
Alone she moves in time
With the heartbeat of the night.
She steps gracefuly,
Slowly at first,
Then faster and faster
Churning the waves
Till the waters foam
Crashes all about her.
Waves beat against her,
As a storm rises in the sky,
Breaking the peace of the night
With lightning and thunder,
And all call as one with her.

One More Nightmare
If everything is
what it seems,
then where is
the reality of
our dream?
(and what does
it mean when
I'm falling apart
at the seams?)
(With everything that
transpires I only
pray that I
could die here.)
You leave me with
nothing more than
nocturnal nightmares.

I am your nightmare
Lay softly now and close your eyes,
slip into your pastel dream.
Soon it's time for us to meet,
when I shall change the theme.
For though I may not be the One,
that black nightmarish Devil.
I am instead the Devil's whore,
and in your fear I revel.
I'll take your pretty daytime thoughts,
the one's that banish dread.
And I will twist them cruelly,
like the screaming of the dead.
In the dreamy state of your quiet bed,
I'll watch you twist and turn.
Then I'll slip inside your mind,
you'll wish in Hell you'd burn!
Cold fire dance from my fingertips,
from my paralytic grip.
Inside you'll writhe in dark torment,
my hold will never

Nightmare
Cold sweat dwells
Heart beats thump.
I'm shaking
Shivering.
I'm alone in the dark
With demons surround.
I am alone I've been alone,
Ever since you left me.
How I yearn,
For your comfort
Your warmth
And your hugs.
I was safe
When you held me.
I was brave
With you by my side.
Now I am
Fragile,
Alone,
And weak.
I'm vulnerable
There is no one
To protect me,
To ease my fear.
I stand alone
In the dark.

That is incredibly beautiful writing. So descriptive, but not so much that it's overwhelming and overpowers the narrative. The balance was done well. And it was so pleasing to the ear, as I read aloud the poems that are rather lyrical, and I loved the graceful flow of it and the sadness that was woven throughout amidst the beautiful imagery, and then crescendoing at the end, showing the woman for what she truly was and how she truly felt inside and how her dance was an escape, a masquerade for her to feel for a moment, for an hour, for a night, like she is someone else who is beautiful who is happy, who is not dancing alone, who is anywhere but there and anyone but her.
At least that is how I read it but it could be about something entirely different! That is sort of the beauty of poetry, of literature, of art, and of song.
